These two originally booked me for my shortest package – 2 hours of wedding photography coverage that’s built for town halls and elopements. But with both sides of their family flying in from Ireland, a beautiful hotel for Eimear to get ready in, and a London restaurant booked all to themselves for the reception, they soon realised they wanted more from me than just the time to cover ceremony and portraits.
And boyyyyyy am I glad they did! With a spanking new 4-hour coverage time on the table, I was able to capture all the nervous excitement of both boys’ and girls’ prep (I will never get over being able to walk between venues instead of driving now that I’m a London wedding photographer), as well as the intimate celebrations they had with immediate family afterwards. My coverage ended just in time for dinner – trust me, nobody wants photos while they’re chewing!
The day itself was the perfect example of why a Clissold House wedding works so beautifully for couples wanting something intimate, stylish, and deeply personal.
Home & Away (at Bethnal Green Town Hall)
With both Shane and Eimear living abroad in London, family was at the heart of the day. We began at Bethnal Green Town Hall with getting-ready photos, champagne, and that quiet excitement that builds before a ceremony.
From there, I ran (yes, really) down the road to Shane & Eimear’s gorgeous home, where Shane was getting ready with his family – including their ABSOLUTE ANGEL CHERUB of a little boy, who would later play a starring role in the ceremony (but for privacy reasons, not this gallery).
Once everyone was ready, we jumped in a taxi to Clissold Park, where a teeny group of excited guests had already gathered inside Clissold House…
Weddings at Clissold House, London
Clissold House is a venue that really doesn’t take much to elevate. The ceremony room upstairs was light, fresh and minimalistically decorated with the most beautiful florals. Their styling reflected a timeless, chic aesthetic with subtle 1950s influences – a perfect match for the understated elegance of a Clissold House wedding.
The civil ceremony was heartfelt, and full of meaningful details: a personalised candle-lighting ritual, readings from both mums, and their son acting as ring bearer – though he decided halfway up the aisle that he did, in fact, want to keep the rings (it’s giving Smeagal).
Wedding portraits in Clissold Park
After the ceremony, we cleared more than a few curious tourists from the porch (a very real part of any Clissold House wedding) so we could throw confetti properly. With rain coming in fast, we got group photos checked off and made the most of Clissold House’s elegant interiors before the family left for the reception.
Braving a little rain, Shane & Eimear and I stayed behind a while longer to explore the grounds of Clissold Park for relaxed couple photos (amidst admiring looks and well-wishes from Londoners as they enjoyed the park), finishing with a classic London bus stop shot.
Back to East London for an intimate wedding reception
The celebrations continued at a restaurant in Stoke Newington, called Bianca’s. Chefs served up a fusion of dishes based on the season and local produce (or as local as London can make it!), while Eimear, Shane and their guests had exclusive use of the whole restaurant.
The open kitchen and intimate layout felt more like a dinner party in someone’s living room than a traditional reception. It was warm, joyful, and effortlessly relaxed. As a wedding photographer, I am also eternally grateful for the sheer amount of natural light this place lets in:

Wedding photography FAQs
Where can we find out more about your wedding photography?
For full deets about how I work an what you can expect when you book me as a wedding photographer in London or afar, check out my wedding photography info page, and have a read of my wedding brochure.
What’s special about you as a wedding photographer?
I think there are two key things that make me stand out:
1. My Stealth Mode (coined by a couple back in 2021!) is my superpower. I seem to be nowhere, and yet I’m somehow everywhere. This means my candids are elite!
2. I edit in a style that is timeless, but it still has an edge. It will wow now just as much as it wows in years to come.
Where are you based?
I am based in East London, and typically work all over London, but I am absolutely up for taking my wedding photography anywhere in the UK.
If you do opt for a London wedding, Clissold House is one of my favourites?
How do we pick a wedding photographer – London has so many!
Honestly, it’s true, the capital is FULL of great togs. But eventually, you’ll get a good feeling about someone. What’s really important is that your London wedding photographer ticks these boxes for you:
- The edit style of their photography matches the feel/vision of your wedding (timeless, punchy, quirky, airy, grungy, etc.)
- The shooting style of their photography matches your priorities (candid-heavy, posed/editorial, fine art, etc.)
- You both feel comfortable with them, or excited by them – this person is going to be with you for most of your wedding day, so the vibe has to be right!
When will we get our wedding photos back?
My promise to you is that you will get your beautiful gallery of wedding photos back within 6 weeks of your wedding, but in reality, it’s usually a lot sooner (it just depends on how far into the wedding photography season we are!)
What if we’re worried about being in front of the camera for portraits?
This is really common, but please don’t worry! The wedding portraits part of the day can be as big or as small as you want it to be – but my recommendation is that you do set some time aside to get photos of just you two – even just 10 mins. Your future selves will thank you for it!
I rarely pose you, but I might give you a prompt from time to time (“play with each other’s wedding rings”, etc.).
Your portraits are usually the first moment you get alone after tying the knot, so I like to give you some distance while I let you two just catch up on all your thoughts and feelings of the day so far. It’ll be like I’m not even there!
