Joe Hicks is my most-photographed musician, and I’m always excited to get that call to shoot another gig of his. This gig’s venue was a favourite amongst up-and-coming artists, The Grace, so I happily trekked across London to Islington with all my photography gear in-tow.
I won’t lie to you, of all the gigs I’ve worked as a live music photographer, this was one of the most challenging in terms of lighting. Not necessary because it was dark – that’s a given for most London live music venues – but because the entire ceiling is layered with disco balls, eager to reflect tiny little shiny squares onto everyone’s glorious faces. The edit on this one was extensive, but LOOK AT THE RESULTS.
What an act, what a venue, what a gig.
