Now, let me start by warning you that the 60-year-old you’re about to see looks not a day older than 40. If that’s going to make you feel as sad about the state of your own face as I was, you have been warned.
June is a bloom of positive energy that people just instantly gravitate towards. I don’t want to sound too cliché, but this woman literally lights up any room she walks into. It’s therefore no surprise that her big surprise party was filled with love, laughter and an awful lot of close friends & family.
June made her grand entrance into the main lounge, and was met by a sea of smiling faces – probably quite overwhelming, but someone had at least dropped enough clues for her to have dressed up beautifully! I can’t be the only events photographer that visibly sweats when waiting for a surprise party entrance – that one shot is everything!
The venue for this party was Moor Close in Newbold College, a stunning old manor in Berkshire – cue sigh of relief from this events photographer once she realised how pretty the backdrop was going to be all day.
The family kicked off with a presentation by her adult kids, husband and important members of their church. It was a really lovely ode to June, who had to get the tissues out more than once. The rest of the party was a rush of group shots, reunions & catch-ups and food & drink, all enveloped in the dulcet tones of a cellist.
A big, big thanks to June and her family for choosing me as their events photographer for the surprise party, and for doing so much to accommodate me while I was shooting!
